Basically, a reverse mortgage is when your home makes payments to you. If you meet certain age guidelines and you have equity in your home your can take out a reverse mortgage. Each month you will get a check that takes a little of the equity out of your home. If you were taking $1000 dollars a month, at the end of the year you would have a 12,000 dollar mortgage plus interest. At the end of two years, you would have a 24,000 dollar mortgage plus interest. You can only pull a certain amount of equity out of the home. If you have more questions, call Aaron Daeges at GreatMnLoans and he can give you more details. 952-913-7283   « less

At this point, it looks like it will cause Minnesota home and real estate to lose value. I would not have voted for this bill had I been in congress but I understand the logic behind it. It would have been better to phase it out once the market was stable. We actually have several other programs that will take the place for some people. If you need down payment assistance in Minnesota and are still thinking of buying a home, please call or e-mail me and I will point you in the correct direction. Please tell me in your note where you are looking to buy, what type of home and what price range. This will help me direct you to the correct place. Joe Niece 612-508-4100   « less
