- My boyfriend is buying a house and wants me to move in with him (I have a substantial amount of money saved ). I am using approximately 20K for renovations because he has nothing saved. He is financing the entire amount of the house and since I have a financial interest in the renovations which will be a rental apartment and the money I am using is considered a loan and will be paid back to me once the unit is rented, however I will be paying half of the bills including the mort and want my name on the deed, not necessarily on the mortgage because I can't afford it alone and my credit is questionable due to a bad divorce, does being on the deed, still mean I own half of the property just exempting me from financial responsibility or should I insist that I be put on the Mortgage?
